PoorMan's Write - Haiku OS answer for lack of LibreOffice

Yesterday i've had a little chat with polish fellow haiku'er about KOffice / LibreOffice for haiku. We both think about these apps and the ways to port it to haiku. It was a long chat and really depressing, because we both run to conclusion that there's no way to port it up to haiku without big shot of bounty money. Of course these two ports some day will be available for haiku. No doubt about it, but what should do actual haiku fan [like me] who use Haiku as a Main/Productive OS? GoBE? Nah, too old and uncompatible with apps like OpenOffice. I started to sniff here and there via google, and found that QT SDK have really cool example of Rich Text Writer that could be ported instantly to Haiku. It's TextEdit Demo and it gives us Haiku'ers instantly few options extreme important in todays world. Its COMPATIBILITY. Firstly, the application saves documents in two formats: ODF/ODT and HTML. ODF/ODT is a format compatible with M$ Office / LibreOffice and OpenOffice. HTML format is well known format, and everyone knows it :D. Secondly: TextEdit demo can export to PDF. I dont need to tell how important it is in these times, and lastly: It has full html tag support so its virtually possible to write everything to the document and save it [ links/urls/rich content like graphics/music ].

So maybe, stop think about porting OpenOffice. Start coding from ground up fresh app for haiku os in QT.
